Go Green

In 2022, we launched our ‘Go Green’ initiative which underpins everything we do. As part of the initiative, we have implemented an environmental management system, in line with EN ISO 14001:2015.  In doing so, we are able to improve our environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

ISO 14001, demonstrates our compliance with current and future statutory and regulatory requirements and ensures that we have a strategic approach to continuously improving our environmental performance.

The UN Sustainability Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. To ensure we build a better future for generations to come, FAKRO is contributing to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Innovation and sustainability in production

Our long-term goal of net zero emissions drives us to look for innovative ways to improve energy efficiency across the production of all our products.

We are proud to have recently been awarded a Green Industry Diamond in recognition of the solutions we have implemented.  The award demonstrates our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, using renewable sources of energy, and implementing biodegradable and recyclable materials.

Sustainably sourced timber

We are committed to supporting the responsible management of the World’s forests. When purchasing a FAKRO product made from pinewood, you can rest assured that the wood is sourced from sustainable forest areas, certified by FSC® and/or PEFC. 

Environmentally-friendly insulation

We use natural and specially selected sheep wool for thermal insulation which thanks to its high density and elasticity accurately fills the gaps around the window.

Over 99% recyclable uPVC windows

The frame profiles of our uPVC windows are made from 63% recycled material and over 99% of the window can be recycled once it reaches the end of its life.

Energy-saving performance

Our roof windows are renowned for their energy-saving properties.

FAKRO, provides U-value information for the whole window (not just the glazing). When comparing our performance with other products you will see how our non-vented, quadruple-glazed FTT U8 Thermo, with a U-value of 0.58 W/m2K within a single glazing unit, leads the market. Our standard FTP-V centre pivot windows also offer a level of performance which competing windows invariably fail to match.

The FAKRO approach to energy efficiency does not stop at providing roof windows with good U-values. It also involves the provision of special packages of insulation flashings, and warm Thermo flashings with additional insulation. FAKRO offers solutions which guarantee savings on heating costs.
