To ensure that Fakro roof windows function effectively throughout their design life, it is recommended that a programme of maintenance be set up and that they are fully cleaned at regular intervals.
The design of hinges used in the following types of Fakro roof window enables the sash to move through 180°.
This enables the external window pane to be cleaned easily:
- Centre pivot windows FT.
- Top-hung windows FK, FP and FE.
The bolt fitted in to the sashlocks the opened or pivoted window for cleaning and is helpful when taking out and putting in the sash. Window hinges should be kept lightly greased.
Leaves and other dirt should be removed from the flashing at least once a year, in order to ensure rain water drainage is maintained. Windows are painted with two coats of a clear, water based acrylic lacquer. They should be repainted every 2 to 5 years depending upon environmental conditions.
